This sale is for an early example of Joe Holbert\'s fine hand forged knives. Joe was one of the best at re-creating the Scagel style knives. He was well known in the Ohio,Kentucky, and Indiana region for producing very esthetic and well made knives. Joe passed away on December 31st,2015. I have collected his knives for 35 years and they are some of the best out there. This example was one of his early ones from the mid eighties as I recall. It has his early \"anvil H\" touch mark, which preceded his later Scagel type mark.
The blade is 7\" long, with an integral bolster forged in the blade, which is Damascus steel. It is a rare style early belt knife, which Joe didn\'t make many of. The handle is of deer bone with a hidden tang with one rivet.
The sheath was made by Jim Layton, of Portsmouth,Ohio, one of the best sheath makers out there, and well known to knife collectors. I hate to sell any of Joe\'s work as they are getting very hard to find, and unfortunately there will be no more! ...WILL NOT BE RE-LISTED!This is a great chance to get an example of some of the best of Joe Holbert\'s work....just in time for Christmas!
