Description:
Original vintage airlines travel poster published by Pan American World Airways to promote travel to the US, i this case to New York City, via their Clipper planes. Clippers were namedafter the sailing ships to create the idea of speed and agility in the air; Pan American\'s Clipper flights boasted large windows, dressing rooms, a convertible bridal suite, a dining salon, lounge, and overnight sleeping capacity for 40.
During the 1950’s the commercial airlines were expanding their routes rapidly as well as promoting leisure travel to the consumer. With the acquisition of their new Clipper airplanes, they sought to increase flyer traffic by creating an alluring series of travel posters to various destinations. This image features the famous statue of Atlas holding up the world which still is on view outside of Rockefeller Center in New York. This statue is still a tourist favorite, 60 years after the publication of this poster.
This is an extremely rare piece, especially in the condition that it is in!

This poster has been conservation backed on acid-free paper and canvas and is ready for framing.
In excellent condition.
The poster has some minor tears on the top edge and bottom. Also what seems to look like an area of paper loss, Small though. This poster has been professionally restored and it is hard to notice any of the tears or the area that looks like it may have had the paper loss. The poster has no foxing. Clean paper and vivid colors (please review detailed photos).
