Large Antique Virgin Mary Christ Child Silverplate Orthodox Oklad Icon Eleusa For Sale

You are viewing an antique mid-nineteenth century Oklad Icon of the Virgin Mary and Christ child in the depiction of \"Mother of God, Seeker After the Lost\"...Theotokos. The icon measures a large 11 1/2 inches by 14 inches and is a silverplate over brass oklad (cover) with intricate brass halos over the Virgin and Christ Child. The oklad is attached over a wood panel with two parallel struts and is in good condition with no breaks. The hand painted images have crackling due to age but are all intact with no flaking or peeling. The representational images of the Virgin and Christ Child are softer and more Italian Renaissance in style, but the icon is Russian in origin.Please view our other items for sale. Thanks!
