MILITARY WARNER SWASEY PRISM TERRESTRIAL TELESCOPE,TRIPOD & BOX 1902 USED IN WWI: $500.00
1902 Warner and Swasey Prism Terrestrial Telescope. Used by the US Signal Corps. during WW I. This telescope was owned by a Veteran of the first World War. After the war, he settled in upstate New York where this telescope has been for the last 95 years. I was fortunate enough to acquire this telescope from that Veterans grandson. The scope is in overall amazing condition and still works very well. The scope measures 21\" in length and has a 1\" eye piece. The scope also comes with the original wooden Tripod which is beautiful and unique in design and 100% as functional now as it was 112 years ago. Also included is the original carrying case the scope came in. The case is missing the handle and has some tears on the inside upper lining but is otherwise quite solid and does its job very well in protecting the scope and tripod. There are two tiny chips on one of the lenes on the scope. I was actually able to pic them up in one of the photo\'s I took. See photo #11. At the bottom of the picture you can see the chips. They in no way effect the overall use of the scope. There also appears to be a very slight crack on the name and date plate of the scope as seen in picture # 9. I did a very thourough inspection of the scope and these are the only imperfections I could find. This is an extremely rare piece of military history. I tried to find another one out there but could not. Please ask any questions. Thanks for looking. Please see Letter Below from Militaria expert in London who gave a rough appraisal for the scope. FYI...400 British Pounds is over $620 US. 600 British Pounds is over $940 US. Hi Jim Thanks for your reply, the sale process is quite straight forward, if you decide to proceed, then we need to be in receipt of the telescope, then we as a company would issue you a receipt of goods, outlining an sale estimate and any agreed reserve. The telescope would then be catalogued and photographed for a specialist sale, up-loaded to our on-line catalogue and offered for sale, the sale ends and the telescope would be sold to the highest buyer, as long as it meets the reserve set. We charge a standard rate of 15% + VAT for our services, your telescope looks to be in good condition for its age, complete and is in its original case, which will always attract the serious collector. I would suggest an sale estimate of £400 - £600, with a reserve of £400, I hope this all helps.
