This brightly colored and hand painted Russian lacquer box is inlaid with Mother of Pearlwhich createsa brightly colored orange band n theskyabove the lone cabin on the shore of the lake. The sunset is also reflected in a bright bright orange off the lake. There is also a fantastic scene painted on the inside of the lid. This unique box is created from a whole shell which forms the lid of the box. These numerous layers give the 3D impression of depth. Some boxes have over 10 layers of lacquer between the layers of paint. The Mother of Pearl is inlaid into the papier-mache lid before painting.
