Nice WWI German Officer\'s DressSword, W/Scabbard, Bright Blade, Vet Bring Back
DESCRIPTION:Scans show it all.....This is an authentic WWI German officer\'sdress sword, complete with original scabbard. It is very well made and quitesuitable for use, for reenactment, or as a wall decoration. BLADE IS BRIGHT, WITH A GORGEOUS ORIGINAL PLATED FINISH. Also, still has the leather \"scabbard bumper\" at the top of the blade, under hilt. Someone over the years has sharpened the bottom edge a bit....a dress sword isn\'t sharp, and someone decided a sword should be!
No maker\'s name, but a logo (a shield with a Z inside) is stamped on the throat of the blade, as pictured. On both sides of the blade is etched an area of flowers, a design, and the motto \"In Treue Fest.\".
Overall length in scabbard is 38 1/2\".Fancy brass handle has nice aged patina and appearance. It is made of black leather with brass twisted wire around it. A couple of the twists are loose, but not bad for 100 years old, and can be re-attached if desired. Steel scabbard has much of the original black paint remaining.Scabbard shows evidence of aslight previous bend towards the bottom, but not significant now and the sword itself is perfect and was unaffected.
This came with other items and combat souvenirs from a WWI veteran.
THIS WILL MAKE A GREAT DECORATOR ON A VARIETY OF WALL SPACES OR A NICE PART OF ANY WWI COLLECTION OR DISPLAY.
