THUNDERBIRD HEADDRESS
hand carved by Noel Joseph, a member of the Wei Wai KumFirst Nation, originating from Campbell River on Vancouver Island, BritishColumbia\'s Pacific Northwest Coast.
This gorgeous piece has been worn at a ceremony/potlatch,held in Campbell River- it still has the inner cushions and linens (no additional information available). The mask is adorned withthe traditional cedar bark rope, it\'s hand carved out of solid wood from thecedar tree, is adorned with feathers (turkey), painted in powerful colors, veryclean lines and clean carving. The size is really impressive and you canclearly imagine how majestic and powerful it was presented.
Measurements 21\" long, 12\" tall, 9\" wide(53.5 x 31 x 23 cm)
Meaning:The Thunderbird symbolizes supernatural powerand is believed to be the dominating force behind all of nature\'s doings. It\'sa mythical creature and only the most prestigious and powerful Chiefs areallowed to have the Thunderbird as a crest.
