Up for sale is this Sixth Plate Ambrotype of a dandy Photographer posing with his wood camera
with Radial Drive Lens. The camera rests on a table cloth. The man sports a gold tinted watch
chain, buttons and ring with red stone tinted. Healso has a blue tinted tie. There are two cracks
that stretch from on the left under his arm to the middle of the bottom ofthe plate. There is also
loss of emulsion on the top and left sides ... He may have not coated the plate correctly with
collodion ... or had a problem with the development.
The original ambrotype was backed by a dusty blackened Daguerreotype plate when I found it.
The emulsion of the image is against the mat as found. I have placed a archival black photographic
paper behind the imageand the original blackened Daguerreotype plate is behind the paper.
This image is very stable ... I have had this in my collection for over 30 years and it has not changed.
The split hinged case has a embossed velvet mat and has a geometric design and is missing the top rail on the front.
The first photo was taken over 15 years ago the others were take June 2017.
The photos below is represents the actual item well.
