You are offerding on an oldStanley, Bailey pre-lateral #8 jointer bench hand plane. It appears to be a Type 4 and has all the right parts. Please confirm this yourself. Please look at all the pictures carefully. What you see is what you get. Look at the walnut shavings!The blade is very sharp. Obviously, this is not your typical hand plane. Why jack around with one of those rusty beat up plane that you can never get it to work right? This one is ready to go to work as a user or display for yourcollection.
How do you adjust the lateral on this thing? Well, I use a small wooden mallet and tap the blade (by the lever cap lever) to lessen the depth on one side while increase the opposite side. It is like driving a stick shift in a sport car. You will have a lot more fun. :)
No cleaning and rust removal required. Well, the usual cotton clothwipe down is all you need to remove the wood dust. Please ask if you have any questions.
