RARE 1ST PRODUCTION RUN OCT.3, 1933 SINGER SEWING 221 FEATHERWEIGHT CORRECT CASE:
$1795.00

This is the ultimate machine for any collector or for taking along to quilting class or retreats. An extremely rare first production run Singer Featherweight with the correct case, tray and foot controller. The serial numbers of the initial production run of October 3, 1933 began with number AD541546 - the serial number on this machine is AD542351 making it the 805th Featherweight ever made - RARE!! (As you may have noticed in the picture the serial number isn\'t in the usual place - it is necessary to remove the bottom cover to view it.) This may well be the oldest Featherweight that exists or, more likely, that will ever be up for purchase. Please enlarge all the pictures and view them carefully as this is in very good condition.First and foremost you will receive a Featherweight that will perform as soon as you unpack it, thread it & engage the bobbin thread. I am pleased to offer this rare & beautiful 1933 Singer 221 Featherweight sewing machine which still has a very nice finish. (There is some minor paint & decal loss on the leading edge). It sews a tight stitch top & bottom. This Featherweight has been put through my rigid inspection and testing and sews a super nice stitch. It is extremely smooth and quiet yet has the power to easily sew through 8 layers of new denim material - virtually all I could get under the presser foot! This particular Featherweight did perform the sewing you see in the picture. \"Purrs like a kitten, still sews like a tiger\".Prior to selling any sewing machine I perform the following on each and every one: I Start by giving it a thorough, deep cleaning both inside and out (to include the bobbin and upper tension areas). Next comes the lubrication process where each and every lubrication point is properly lubed including the motor bearings using Singer products and done in accordance with Singer recommendations. Then, and only then, did I start the machine up and check tensions along with needle bar timing, making adjustments as needed. Please refer to the picture showing the sample that I sewed with this machine - this is 8 layers of denim that I used to test and adjust this Featherweight. Depending on what needle size and thread diameter/type you use it may require some minor tension adjustments - very easy to do. I am including a CD with this machine that will provide all necessary information to accomplish this along with loads of other pertinent information.Next I perform a sew-off (again please view the picture of the sample piece of denim) making sure the machine runs smoothly. Also, the power/control electrical cord is brand new! The motor runs strong & purrs along. This Featherweight also comes with a brand new oil pad.The case is pretty rare in itself as it is the correct case for this early machine. It is in great condition for being almost 85 years old. The original handle has been replaced with a newer one that seems sturdy enough but I would recommend carrying it by the bottom like a box - as should be done with all old Featherweights. There is a metal piece that would fit over the top of the machine that has come loose & certainly can be replaced if desired. The piece is visible on the left side of the case tray. The lining of the case and tray are green in color (more like the last picture) other pictures appear to render the color more like a blue hue - could be the lighting.Listing includes attachments as shown. This is a super nice Featherweight and will give many more years of service. Proper and timely maintenance is the key. I take pride in what I do and will not list anything until I am completely satisfied with it. I have been restoring these beautiful machines for over 7 years now and have maintained a 100% positive response rating. I only work on and sell two to three a year - I do take my time to get them right! Listed below are some examples of response I have received in the past.
Dear bjorn_77, Got the featherweight. It\'s fantastic, better! As good as advertised. I was looking for a like new machine and I think this is the closest I could get with something almost as old a me. My sweetheart is sewing with it now, it was a gift and her second featherweight she also has a 1942 model. Lots of quilting. Thank you for the great communication and super fast shipment.
