EXQUISITE - A Display Piece
The stone colors are jade green-gray with sange-de-bouef red veining and elements.
This exceptional piece is deeply hand carved, depicting a curving spray of chrysanthemum flowers on heavily leaved stem. The two birds appear to be eating from the plants. The bud vases are depicted as great jars, the outer two decorated with delicate encised design - each with different flowers.
There are three (3) functional bud vases.
Additionally, the Chrysanthemum has great symbolicsignificance to the Chinese, and these pieces often depicted a particular parable from Chinese Lore. Again, my limited knowledgein this area, limits my detail.
In excellent condition with no apparent defects. The excellent condition may be attributed to the lengthy, untouched time in storage, evidenced by dust on the piece. Similar pieces has sold for as high as $1500.00 dollars in galleries.
