Description: RARE HUTCHINSON TOP COCO COLA (COCA COLA) BOTTLE, CHATTANOOGA, TENN., AQUA, Height 7 1/4\", Circa 1900-1903. COCO COLA BOTTLING CO CHATTANOOGA, TENN in block letters inside the center slug plate. The bottom is embossed with DIXIE. The wire stopper is included! There are two versions of the Coca Cola hutch bottle from Chattanooga Tenn. The version for sale is embossed with Coco-Cola and the other version is embossed with Coca-Cola. Both versions are considered to be Coca Cola hutch bottles and most collectors believe that the Coco-Cola version was an error that was produced first and then changed the embossing to Coca-Cola once the error was discovered. Condition: This is a beautiful example that has been tumbled to VNM (very near mint) condition. This dug bottle has two very small nicks around the outer lip of the blob top. Also, the bottle has one very small chip at the base of the bottle on the back side which cannot be seen when displayed.
As you can see from the photos the bottle is very clear and has hundreds of tiny micro-bubbles in the glass, none are open!
The embossing inside the slug plate is very near mint with clean and crisp lettering!

Dark purple is not anatural color for these bottles and is caused by irradiating olderbottles. The older Coke bottles had manganese that will turn the bottledark purple when irradiated. There are some naturally occurring bottleswith a light amethyst/purple or pink tint - leaving them out in prolongedsunlight (SCA) will darken the tint (but they will NEVER become a Dark (Blue) (Black) Amethyst). Also, sellers use the private buyer routine so knowledgeable collectors and sellers can\'t warn you that the so called rare bottle you are offerding on is worthless.

REPRODUCTION COCA COLA LABELS on Coca-Cola BottlesAlso, beware of sales that have Coca Cola labels applied to bottles. For example, recently on you could find Coca Cola labels on bottles that don\'t have Coca Cola in script or block letters on the bottle. These types of bottles obviously never held Coca Cola and the label may be a reproduction. Also, keep in mind, very few Coca Cola bottles with the original label have survived over the years! Please ask the seller questions about the bottle and/or label to determine authenticity before you buy.One seller on takes a non-embossed soda bottle worth maybe a dollar or two, slaps a fake 1900\'s diamond Coca-Cola label on it and sells it for $100+.
