Up for sale is this beautiful RoyalCopenhagen vase designed by Thorkild Olsen at 1952.
Thorkild Osvald Olsen (1890 -1973) was a Danish painter and ceramist who worked with both faience andporcelain . He was the father of architect Jorgen Selchau.
Olsen became a key figure in the establishment in the kgl. Porcelain FactoryWorldwide. He worked with both modeling and decoration, especially over andunder glass painting, and he contributed to the development of glazes. Sincethen he was absorbed by stylizing the decoration, which eventually became pureabstraction based on the naturalization that played an important role for him.
His starting point was persistent naturalism. The abstract ornament, also usedin woodcarving and dust printing, used Olsen in the 1950s to work in softporcelain with decorations in the ancient Chinese pourpre de chine glass thatwas rebuilt in the late 1940s.
He is represented in the Royal Copenhagen Museum , the Art Industry Museum ,the Museum of Modern Art , New York , the Musée des Arts Décoratifs , Paris andthe Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza.
