Nice Rare Example of an Early Cottage Clock made by Henry Sperry, New York, and retailed by J J Beals.
The case is grain painted, refinished nicely appearing as it was originally. The glass retains it\'s original simple artwork. The lower reverse painting is a black background with a gold line bordering the top edge and pendulum window. The front of the glass has a hand painted robin on it. This is the first time I\'ve seen an original glass with paintings on both the front and back of the glass.
The dial paint is original and is signed J J Beals. There is a small portion of the typical J J Beals label on the inside backboard. The minute hand is replaced, while the hour hand is original.
The movement is unsigned, but is the typical Sperry \'upside down\' movement.
This is a very rare clock with it\'s original parts.
The clock has been running well for me for the past week. As I have not worked on it, I am selling it \'as is\'.
I\'ve run out of keys. No key will be provided.
Please look at the pictures carefullyas they are part of the description. Feel free to ask any questions. I have described this to the best of my ability.
