Rare Williamsburg Restoration Stieff Sterling Silver Bowl John Burt Boston Repro: $215.00
This is a wonderful RARE STERLING SILVER WILLIAMSBURG STIEFF, BALTIMORE, MARYLAND \"R.T.15-5 SUGAR BOWL OR BOWL. The bowl is simple but elegant and was copied from one made by John Burt, a Boston silversmith, over 200 years ago. The bowl measures 4 1/8\" at the top and is 2 3/4\" high. It is heavy weighing 5.3 ounces. The bowls over 8 ounces. The bowl is nicely detailed with rolled lip edge opening with two simple but elegant engraved lines. The underside of the footed bowl has the official restoration logo (see photo). There is no monogram and no dings, dents or stains. I think the bowl dates to the 1950\'s. The bowl is polished and ready to give as a gift or to use. This bowl is on sale for $399 at a well known replacements company. The \"R. T.\" part of the number stands for RALEIGH TAVERN, one of the Colonial Williamsburg restaurants that was also a favorite of the colonists. The bowl was made by Stieff of Baltimore, Maryland. In 1939 Colonial Williamsburg honored Stiff by making them the licensed makers of sterling silver products for the Colonial Restoration.Email me with any questions.
