Rare Zuni FRANK VACIT Screwback Earrings Knifewing Rainbow Man Mosaic Inlay:
$279.00

Welcome!

These beautiful Thunderbird Knifewing earrings (called Hopi Bird by one author) were made by the renowned Frank Vacit. They are perfect and lovely, made of mother of pearl, jet, turuoise and coral or spondylus shell. Ther are hand applied raindrops and twisted wire decorations and the lines are clean. The earrings are original screw backs and could be converted to pierced by your jeweler if you wish. They are marked sterling silver. and unsigned but you can see from the pictures I\'ve included from Sei book \"Hopi Bird and Sun Face in Zuni Jewelry\" that the earrings incorporate elements Frank Vacit used frequently in his work. I make the attribution with confidence as a result of studying them closely. He is one of the most important Zuni artists and these earrings will make a lovely addition to your collection.

Frank Vacit was born in 1915, and worked from the 1930s to 1950s. He was one of the most talented and great artists in Zuni history. His work resides in the best galleries and museums and he is discussed in every major work. His pieces fetch the highest prices, justifiably.

Knifewing was a warrior known as the Great One who came down from his ethereal plateau to bestow wisdom, strength and courage amongst his recipients, only revealing himself to the warriors who serve as protectors of the Pueblo. It\'s quite special to have Frank Vacit pieces. They are superb quality and charming collectibles.

Anything by Frank Vacit is very valuable. He was one of the great silversmiths. He was highly represented in the CG Wallace catalog for the Sotheby\'s sale and was one of the most renowned and highly priced of the great artists. These earrings would be an important addition to any wardrobe and any collection.

Attributions on many of the old pieces of Native American jewelry are sometimes a moving target. All the books have errors, so I countercheck without relying on just one source, when possible. I do care about getting it right, so as more information comes to light I update my listings and also get in touch with my previous buyers, to inform them of any changes in attributions. I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.

I request payment by PayPal in three days, but planned in advance of purchase alternate payment methods and time payments can be arranged.

International buyers pay actual shipping cost and are responsible for any customs fees their own countries may apply.

Everything I sell comes from my personal collection or is something that I would include in my personal collection. Most pieces are museum worthy and gallery suitable, sold to you at great pricing. I vet every item carefully for quality and condition, and offer you only the best. I want you to be able to rely on me for top quality, superb items that are often unique and rare examples of old antique vintage southwest, indian, native american and fine gold and gemstones, whether you\'re starting a collection or adding to one, or want something great to wear. My goal is that all my buyers are delighted, that my special pieces find the right homes.
