Offered here is a very nice ANTIQUE STANLEY HANGING TOOL CABINET, NUMBER 851, WITH ORIGINAL TOOL RACKS, BOTTOM DRAWER WITH METAL PLATE DECAL, HOOKS AND METAL TOOL HANGING HARDWARE, AND STANLEY DECAL ON BACK PANEL. Sadly, the only apology is a missing front right-sidedoor that matches the left-hand doorpresently affixed to the cabinet. This missingpanel-door would be an easy fix or restoration by a skilled carpenter/cabinet maker....especially as they simply need to copy the door already on the cabinet.
The cabinet measures 19-1/2 inches wide, 26-3/4 inches tall, and 8-1/4 inches deep. Inside there are many hooks and tool clamps where the Stanley tools were hung. There is also the original tool shelf with holes and slots just above the shelf. At the bottom of the cabinet there is the original pull-out drawer with pull rings and a nice metal STANLEY LOGO PLAQUE. The drawer has its original removable divider partitions. The bottom wood is wavy from moisture-age. On the inside-back panelof the cabinet is a STANLEY DECAL-LOGO.
The cabinet has its original carry handles on the outsideleft and right panels. This piece must have been mounted on a wall in a shop long ago and an original owner nailed wooden cleats on the outside side boards to attached shelves between this cabinet and other items in his shop. These cleats have been carefully removed, but the nail holes are still present. Not a very big deal, but I want to mention it. The cabinet has two over-sized holes in the back panel where it must have been attached and hung to the wall. At the top edge of the cabinet, at the center where the doors meet, there is a nice METAL STANLEY LOGO TAG and there is another metal tag inside, just above the drawer,that reads \"No. 851\". Lastly, the door cabinet latch is still in-place and working.
The wood on the cabinet is in good condition with nomajor splitsor cracks that I can see. At some locations thepanel joints have opened andmoved with age and humidity, butthat is normal and how the piece was constructed. The bottomdrawer sticks slightly. The finish wasdark, dry and dusty-greasy. I wiped it downwith hand-cleaner to remove the dirt and grime. There are the originalpaint spots and splatterson the front door and inside.See photos for additional details.
