Here is a Japanese samurai M44 Military sword by KANE HARU, made in 1944. The blade is approximately 27 inches with a total of 37 inches overall. The ito (wrap) in very nice, a little dirty, but tight! I did not pick up the hamon very good in my pictures but you can make it out. The kashira (pommel) has a little rust and 1 screw is missing from the grip. The red on the tang is the serial number (525) which is also written on the handle. No history on the veteran. But lots of history with this nice sword.
