CHIME NO. 97 – 1928

Offered today in time for Mother’s Day is thisbeautiful Seth Thomas Chime No. 97 produced in the year of 1928. The original finish Mahogany case is inexcellent condition as the pictures will show. All the best features are on this model like stepup molding in the bottom front and sides of the clock with step down moldingsat the 3 and 9. An open scroll like outlinethat starts at the 3 and 9 and stops at each end. Concaved wood around the dial giving a dishlike appearance. A few minor charactermark in the case that does not distract from her beauty which can all be seenin the pictures. No scratches or chipsare on the convex glass and the bezel door and back door opens and closesproperly. A nice original 5-inchsilvered dial with very minor wear and raised bronzed Arabic numbers with fancybronze serpentine hour and minute hands.The best sounding Mayland chime rods are in this model with a chime lockthat I forgot to include in the disassembled picture but can be seen in the insidecase showing the back of the movement.This lock prevents the chimes from rattling during transport. A complete model label is on the bottom ofthe clock. The Westminster 124 movementhas been completely rebuilt for many years of trouble free service. This movement also features a silent chimeoption to quiet the quarter-hours. An originalpendulum bob and a proper size ST stamped two sided key comes with theclock. Every aspect of this clock isfully functional and in excellent condition.

What I do to ensure you are buying a quality clockfrom me.

Ø Disassemble the entire clock and movement myself completely.

Ø Install Seth Thomas parts on the movement as needed.

Ø Clean and lubricate the mainsprings for proper function of the movement.

Ø Replace all worn pivot holes with high quality Bergeon bronze bushings.

Ø Clean the entire movement ultrasonically.

Ø Clean the original dial by hand.

Ø Clean bezel, parts and chime rods by hand.

Ø Clean the outside of the original finish by hand with mild cleaners aswell as the inside and apply a coat of wax by hand.

Ø Clean the finish instead of altering or distorting the finish. This does decrease the value of a clock.

Ø Reassemble the clock, oil and lube movement in the proper places.

Ø Adjust chime and strike hammer sequence properly to assure smooth andeven strikes at each quarter-hour and hour.

Ø Electronically regulate the beat and adjust the speed while the clock islevel to ensure accuracy for many generations.

Ø Inspect and adjust every minor detail of the clock assuring fullfunction and peak performance for many years to come.

Ø Test the clock for a minimum of two weeks to ensure peak and properperformance for the new owner.

Ø Smoke free, pet free home. Allclocks are cleaned removing odors.
