HISTORY:

Sunset Trails was one of the premier western silversmithsof the 1920s+ and was originally located in Los Angeles. There were severalmergers and today the Stanton family runs the operation in Temecula,California.

The following information is from the HIGH NOON Western Americana website:

\"Tony Stanton

Sunset Trails founding date:1951
Silversmith
LKL Los Angeles area, CA

Sunset Trails began makingbelt buckles and saddle silver as the Srour Company in the garage of theStanton home located in the historic West Adams section of Los Angeles. In theearly 1920s, Michael Srour witnessed the swift changes taking place in LosAngeles...changing from bean fields and orange groves to oil derricks andskyscrapers. Mike’s designs reflected the need to preserve the old styles ofsilver conchos and buckles worn by the early Mexican rancheros - an all butvanished lifestyle.

At the same time, aphenomenon had hit Southern California - the movies! The styles of the cowboy,Indian, and Mexican Charro were melded together onto fragile celluloid andexported across the world. The myth had begun. Movies had taken hold and thewestern wear look was born!

The demand for authenticWestern garb from both the studios and public was overwhelming. To meet thedemand, the Srour Company moved to a new plant in Culver City - also home toMGM. Mike’s brother-in-law Joe Stanton came on board in the early 1940s to helpwith the brisk business. After a tour in the Pacific during World War II, Joe’sson Bob worked part-time while attending Loyola University. Mike Srour retireddue to poor health leaving Joe, Bob and brother-in-law Al Means to carry on thebusiness. They renamed the business after Bob’s sister, Helen – H. S. Means Co(Helen Stanton Means). In 1951, Bob purchased the business from Joe and Al. Bobrenamed the new company Sunset Trails.

In 1960, Bob acquired McCabeSilversmiths of Hollywood. Two proud traditions of silversmithing came togetherunder one roof. Business continued to grow, and in 1968 Bob’s brother-in-lawVince Hatton joined the firm. Finally in 1979 after graduating from Loyola,Bob’s eldest son Tony joined the family business. From presidents to rockstars, from cowboys to movie moguls, from Lubbock to Wall Street, peopleeverywhere and from all walks of life wear Sunset Trails.\"
