Vintage, silver soldered, insulated pitcher from The Algonquin Hotel in New York. This pitcher is heavy and solid. Very lovely piece made in the art deco design. This pitcher is in beautiful, shiny condition. There are reflections in the photos that make it look less shiny.The Hotel Algonquin was the site for the Algonquin Roundtable. The Algonquin Roundtable was a group of journalists, authors, publicists and actors who got together for lunch at the hotels restaurant almost daily for 10 years. Some of the members were Dorothy Parker, Harpo Marx, George S. Kaufman, Franklin P. Adams, Robert Benchley, Heywood Broun, Marc Connelly, Jane Grant, Ruth Hale, Neysa McMein, Harold Ross, Robert E. Sherwood, Alexander Woollcott, Heywood Broun, and Edna Ferber. Many of these people started The New Yorker. Imagine that this piece may have been used by one of them!
Marks: The side has Hotel Algonquin in the script used by the hotel. The bottom is stamped Grand Silver Co Wearbrite Nickel Silver
Measurements: approx 6 3/4\" tall x 5 1/4\" wide at its widest. 4 1/8\" diameter.
This pitcher is in great vintage condition for it\'s age and use. Show some signs of age such as light surface scratches and a small bruise on one side. The inside is mostly clean, but there are either some spots of wear or some residue I couldn\'t remove. The inside bottom was initially heavily encrusted with residue when I acquired it. I did my best to remove it all, but a bit may remain.No obvious damage that I can see.
