Tobacco Box \"Carried in Revolutionary War\" Tinder Box, Flint and Steel, Ex: Jim Dresslar collection.Tinder Box includes original flint, steel striker, piece of punk wood, and cloth remnant. Striker is hand forged with visible layers in the steel and has filed groves. Tobacco tin has worn floral designs on the lid top. Hinge intact with no problems. Original period paper that was folded up in the tinder box has writing on both sides. It has been placed in a plastic cover to prevent folding and unfolding to preserve the integrity of the document. It reads, \"No 2, Tobacco Box, Powder Horn and Story Book. Tobacco Box Carried in Revolutionary War.\" Ink and writing is true to the period and was written with a fountain pen. This exact tobacco tin and steel striker are pictured in James R. Johnston\'s book, Accouterments, on page 76. Book is not included in sale. This is a fine original Colonial artifact with solidprovenance that shows it was carried in the Revolutionary war. A rare and seldom offered artifact.
