Purchased this Full Tang survival/hunting knife on 8/1/16 for hiking \"adventures\" with my two year old daughter. I used it to cut pencil sized saplings and fat wood to clear out \"secret hiding places\" for us in brush and tree clusters. This DART has seen minimal use and I\'ve cared for it meticulously. I added a custom 550 USA-made paracord grip to the Black Linen Micarta handle. The DART handles like a dream. The blade is razor sharp for such a thick piece of 5160 carbon steel. Note the sharpness on the belly of the blade where the most effective chopping occurs. The lower edge of the recurve blade, combined with the comfortable choil, is excellent for feathering wood.
I took some close up images to (hopefully) show where Tops black traction coatingblade finish wears off with use. This is standard on such knives and is designed primarily for overall blade protection; the areas that show wear are the subtle textured \"bumps\" rather than the protective layer itself. In addition to the protective black coating, I used Frog Lube after each use to clean and coat the already corrosion resistant blade. The sheath is black ballistic nylon.
