Venereal Prophylactic Unit Medical Department United States Army Wood Chest WWII. Well...you just never know what you will find at a garage sale!!! How cool is this???? For all the \"randy\" boys, the Army seems to have had a \"Venereal Prophylactic Unit\". This chest is Marked: Item 97925 Venereal Prophylactic Unit Medical Department United States Army
Made of burgundy/maroon painted wood, with (once black) metal trim all around. This metal trim is screwed on. The metal trim is heavily distressed with rust and some pieces have rusted through. Heavy duty metal handles on each side. Recessed loop for latch - which part has broken off. Hinged lid with two metal hinges. The wood box itself is in great condition with no holes or rotting that I can see. Please keep in mind the piece is quite old and the metal is in distressed condition.
Inside is divided into two sections. Remnants of documents ( I think one is steps for treatment and the other, inventory in box) are glued under lid. Inside has stamps on wood: National Chair Mfg Corp Asheboro N.C. Measures: 22 5/8\" length x 16 3/4\" wide x 11 1/8\" tall.
I have included 2 photos I found to show it\'s original condition.
Wouldn\'t this make a great conversation piece?
