The Chinese abacus is known as \"Suànpán\" - \"Counting tray\"The earliest known Chinese abacus dates to the 2nd century BC. This\"Suànpán\"has two beads on each rod in the upper deck andfive beads each in the bottom for both decimal and hexadecimal computation.The beads are rounded and made of a hardwood. The beads are counted by moving them up or down towards the beam.A vintage Chinese Abacus suànpán made from Rosewood and hasBrass corners, and a brass decor on the front. The beads are also made of Rosewood.There is a placard on the top in Chinese, see photo.There are 13 rods (columns) 91 bead Abacus.
