Exquisite vintage Japanese wedding kimono, or uchikake, up for sale. Circa 1960s to 1970s, this kimono features hand painted golds, reds, oranges and blacks with a autumnal motif of red and gold bamboo and bright colored embroidered leaves. Also featured is the stunning painted and hand-embroidered red-crowned Japanese cranes, known as a symbol of luck, longevity and fidelity.
The overall background color of the kimono is a creamy off-white, with a swirling black and gold water motif in which multiple hand-embroidered and painted cranes stand. This is set against orange, red and gold painted and embroidered bamboo shoots and leaves that transition into a metallic gold sky. The inside of the kimono is lined with a metallic red gold sheen of silk brocade. It also features a rolled and padded hem.
The detail on this kimono is truly stunning. This kimono could be worn by the bride for their high ceremony, or be displayed on a rod for a gorgeous statement art piece. Either way, this kimono is one of a kind and you will not find another like it.
This kimono has been owned by one person for the past 50 or so years, and is in excellent vintage condition. No smells or major stains other than some age spots sprinkled throughout the kimono (as shown in the photos). Any questions, please ask and I will be happy to answer them. This kimono does not ship with hanging rod and will ship insured.
