sale is for a lot of 3 historical pieces of WWI Trench Art – made from WWI French brass INERT37mm artillery shells with fluted edge.Pieces are from the estate of a WWI vet who served with the 314 FieldArtillery Regiment, 155th Field Artillery Brigade, 80thDivision, American Expeditionary Force.

SHELL 1: Marked “NOV 11 1918” with various design withno projectile - INERT (NOTE: Armisticewas signed on November 11, 1918 ending WWI)
SHELL 2: Marked “FRANCE” with hearts and artillerypiece firing – with projectile - INERT
SHELL 3: Marked “1918” – “314” – “W”– “89” with Army field artillery symbol – with projectile - INERT

Dimension: Approximately3.5” high (shell without projectile) 6.75” high (shell with projectileattached) by 5” in circumference.
Markings: Seephotos and bottom of casing for manufacturing markings
Condition: Original condition with original patina andsome minor oxidation. They have not beencleaned or polished and do have various nicks, scratches and dings but allminor – see photos. Shell 1 has somebending around the
open end of the shell but appears to be made that way.
History: 314thField Artillery Regiment, 155th Field Artillery Brigade, 80th Division,American Expeditionary Force, WWI.Deployed overseas June 1918, participated in the Battle of Somme, 1918,Meuse-Argonne, Battle of
Saint-Mihiel and was inactivated in May 1919.

Provenance:Items come from my friend\'s grandfather who served in the 314th U.S. Army during World War I. I do not have any more information on thehistorical aspects of this item. Pleaseremember that these items are over 100 years old and have been in storage for many years and show signs of vestige of age.
