Vintage c.1930 NAVAJO 54x29\" Double Saddle Blanket NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN Wool:
$1.00

For sale is a vintage original, authentic Navajo woven double saddle blanket (or rug). The pattern and technique are consistent with that of the Two Grey Hills Trading Post area circa 1920s to 1930s. It was hand-woven using handspun Churro sheep wool. The design has a central panel of five diamonds with \"bow-tie\" serrated edges on a grey brown background outlined with a dark brown sawtooth pattern. The center diamond has a water bug or piƱon beetle in the center. The other diamonds have a cross in the middle. The water bug theme is replicated on the outside of the center diamond. The side borders are a solid dark brown stripe. The short end selvage cords are highlighted with red dyed yarn. Overall the blanket is made of four colors: dark brown, natural grayish brown, ivory white, and red dyed selvage cords. This blanket has been mounted to a wood rail with bronze upholstery tacks for safely hanging on a wall. This blanket is approximately 4 feet 6 inch long by 2 foot 5 inches wide (54 by 29 inches). It has a tight weft count averaging approximately 24 per inch and a warp count of 7 per inch. This vintage blanket is in very good used condition. The selvage cords are all in original, excellent condition. All four corners are in original, very good condition with a little wear. The corner tassels are mostly worn off. Both sides are even in pattern color. It has not been professionally cleaned and there are some light stains. There is one, small single knot hole. This is shown in the last photograph. Please see photographs. There is no other damage, defects, or repairs. It comes from a non-smoking home. This is a fine old hand crafted piece of Native American art. Please see the shipping options for your location under the shipping and payments tab and choose your preferred shipping method during checkout. If you do not want the wood hanging rail, the shipping cost can be lowered if that is not included in the sale. Contact me prior to purchase if you do not want the wood hanging rack.
