Want to add some whimsey to your everyday, same-old, same-old, had-this-before meals? Well, with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald and Goofy starring on your dishes, meal time might just be a little more entertaining! Made exclusively for the Walt Disney Gallery in the late 90s, where fun and unique Disney products were sold, these dishes were only available through the six Galleries scattered throughout the country, sold out quickly and rarely come up for sale, making them a rare find indeed.
This 20 piece set plus sugar and creamer set, consists of 4 each dinner plates, soup/salad bowls, dessert/bread plates, and cups with saucers. The dinner plates, which measure a generous 11” across, each have a 3 5/8” Mickey Mouse in the center; the soup bowls, which measure 9” across and 1 1/2” deep, each have a 2 1/2” tall Pluto in the center; the dessert plates are 7 3/4” across, with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, or Goofy in the center of the plate—each character averaging 3” in height; the cups measure 3 1/2” across and 3 1/4” tall, with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, or Goofy on both sides of the cup—each character approximately 2 1/2” tall; and the saucers are 6” across, with Mickey, Minnie, Donald or Goofy in the center of the saucer—the characters ranging from 1 1/2” to 2” in height. the sugar bowl measures 3 3/4\" tall, with the lid adding another 1 3/4\" in height, and thecreamermeasures4\" high. The ceramic dishes were made in Japan and, even though not stated on the bottom of the dishes, are microwavable and dishwasher safe - I know because I’ve used both on my own set ofdisheshundreds of times.
The 5-piece setting for four is in excellent condition with no chips, crazing or scratches; some have never been used as they were purchased as extras to replace broken dishes, but were not needed. PLEASE NOTE: Due to its weight and fragility, the best option would be for pickup in Las Vegas, NV; otherwise, this set of dishes will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail/Fragile.
