Waltham “Bride’s Model” Banjo Clock Ca 1930:
$1250.00

I bought this “Bride’s Model” Banjo Clock case withthe original dial. I learned that it’scalled the “Bride’s Model” after I bought it.The original movement had been removed and an electric movementsubstituted. I found an early BanjoClock movement to install to return it to a weight driven clock. I bought what I think is an early 19thcentury movement similar to the type made by John Sawin. The movement, pendulum, weight, pulley, dial and hands came as a one-lot set. See lastpicture. They belong with oneanother. I installed the movement withthe main arbor and winding shaft in correct positon to match holes in the dialfor the hand arbor and the winding key.The winding key for this movement is a #2. I did not get the original key. I determined the “lift” off the backboardnecessary to get the main arbor that the hands mount on at the correctlevel. I made oak blocks to support themovement that rest on the sideboards of the throat. I had the throat glass and pendulum box glassrestored by Tom Moberg. Theeight-day,weight-driven,time-only movement with deadbeat escapement and maintaining-powerhas been professionally overhauled and is in excellent runningorder. The pendulum bob looks blurry in the pictureof the pendulum box because it’s in motion, the clock is ticking. The back of the clock case shows some holesmade to accommodate the electric movement. They are not noticeable when the clock is hanging on the wall. This is a beautiful clock. It gets compliments from everyone who seeit. It is not totally original although itlooks original. It’s beautiful. You won’t see another one of these clocks foryears because Waltham didn’t make many of them. You will get the clock, the original Waltham dial, the key, and twobrass pieces (can be seen laying on bottom of pendulum box) which I’ve intendedto install between the movement and backboard the next time that I remove themovement from the case. Not necessarybut just my preference.
