Brand: Gala Peter by Daniel Peter.
History of the brand: \"The world’s first milk chocolate bar was made in 1875 in Vevey, Switzerland, by Daniel Peter with the help of his friend and neighbour, Henri Nestlé. It had taken Peter eight years to perfect the process. He was by no means the first to try, but all previous attempts to use milk failed because its high water content meant it soon turned rancid. His groundbreaking milk chocolate bar named Gala Peter, after the Greek word for milk, became an international sensation. It made D. Peter one of the world’s largest chocolate makers and helped Alpine farmers by increasing demand for milk. Henri Nestlé was a German pharmacist who had immigrated to Switzerland. He founded Nestlé in 1867, using condensed milk to create one of the first infant foods as an alternative for mothers who could not breastfeed their babies. Daniel Peter was a candle maker, but the advent of the kerosene lamp andhis marriage to a daughter of local chocolatier François-Louis Cailler inspired him to transform his candle factory in 1867 to found D. Peter chocolate.\" Copyright 2013, World Chocolate Awards.Size:Width 3.5 inches. Length 2 inches. All dimensions are approximate. Will ship world wide to any country.
