Original Native American War Shirt
This shirt was handmade by a member of the Plains Tribes for an exhibition in Germany of original and replica Native American Art.It was only put on a model and has never been worn otherwise.
It mimics the style of war shirt worn by the Northern American Plains Tribes around 1830
The beadwork is made of old Powder blue and dark yellow beads
The painted symbols are Bear Paws adorned with prayer pouchesIn the middle of the front is a symbol with a horned headdress as a symbol of respectOn the arms and the back are the symbols for the four directionsThere are also decorations of holes burned into the leather as a symbol of the connection between the real and the dream world.Further adornments are Hawk bells, metal cones and horse hair tassels
