vintage~FORD~GENUINE PARTS~PORCELAIN ADVERTISING SIGN w/NEON LIGHT & CHROME TRIM:
$875

This sale is for a rare vintage advertising porcelain and neon sign, marked: FORD - GENUINE PARTS - and: FORD highlighted with neon blueglass. This sign was recently acquired from a very old gentleman who said he has owned it for over 25 years and he obtained it from a friend who had it in a mechanics garagesince the1960's or 70's. When I found it it was extremely dirty and dusty but after it was cleaned it turned out to be very beautiful and in excellent condition. It has a sled type body that holds the neon works, chrome trim and an oval porcelain sign that measures 16 1/2" by 11". The overall measurements are 34" wide, 21" tall and 7" thick and it weighs 25 lbs.

I would prefer local pick up on this item but due to the fragile nature of neon glass, I will only ship this item through UPS with insurance and let them pack it so there is no question of the liability in case of damages. They quoted me a cost of $120 for that service and if it is less due to the buyers proximity, I will refund any unspent shipping charge.

*As always, , no buy it now and a very low starting price.

*No rules, simply pay and I mail promptly. Satisfaction Guaranteed to be as described. Feel free to ask any questions or review my response. Check out my other 50 sales for more hard to find vintage and antique collectibles.

*additional info: I looked inside the hole where the cord comes out the back and could see the old type on-off pull chain that may have once came out the same hole. It is also possible it has had a cord upgrade since this one has a ground on it.

In regards to the last question:

* As far as anyone inquiring if this is a reproduction, all I can ask is: if anyone has ever seen one like this that was made before the time period I have described in my description, please let me know. I do not know its history beyond whatI was told andI know enough to know it was not made anytime in the last 40 years, beyond that I do not know its actual age. It could be from the 30's or 40's or it could be from the 60's or 70's with upgrades but I do not know, I do thinkit is of the highest quality that you will ever find. The 1/8" thicknessof antique dust and grime on it when I found it was not reproduced.

On Aug-07-12 at 08:36:40 PDT, seller added the following information:

added 8-7: I have had one individual that is concerned that this neon sign is not original because the FORD sign was not made by Ford and it may have been reproduced but the fact is there are no other FORD signs this size and it was an original custom made part to compliment this original vintagecustom neon sign, originally made in the 1980 era. It is still very rare, it was expensive to make, very high quality and not some cheap reproduction.
