View Larger Image   Germantown Tool Works Produce Hatchet   Description: This is a nice clean hard to find maker's name, marked "GERMANTOWN TOOL WORKS PHILA.", in Philadelphia PA. The nice sharp cutting edge is 2" wide, and the head is 5" long overall. The handle is nice solid hardwood, looks original, has a minor grain separation toward the end of the handle, fits nicely to the head, with one steel wedge in place. Germantown is a well known quality tool maker, and their tools are fairly hard to find because they weren't in business for very long in the late 1800's.
