It has no dial face like todays indicator, no plastic either. The body of this indicator is marked "IDEAL TOOL CO. ROCHESTER N.Y. PATENTED". To date, I have never seen a broken Ideal indicator, that not to say some didn't get smashed or broken, but after about 60 year of use or just being stored, these indicators were made to preform a certain task, and do it well they have over the years. Sometimes simple is best, and to look at this indicator you can see, it all steel!
