Lap Board Siding Tool

Description:
This is an interesting tool that I believe was used for scoring 7" wide boards as is was slid across the lenghth of the board. It's at least 140 years old and is made of hardwood, brass and steel. The handle is a separate piece held on by two old wood screws. The above name is marked on the side, was either the tool maker or owner. An interest conversation piece.
