View Larger Image   Sargent Paragon Pliers Cutters   Description: This is a nice clean 8' long pair of double hinged pliers with the seperate area for cutting wire (more like an end nipper style, but on the side in this case). This one is different from most that I've seen, and appears to be made for a special wire attachment purpose, as there is a place for wire to pass through one of the jaws, and a crimping pad (kind of like the bottom of a stapler for paper) on the other side. They also have a spring loaded hinge, to the open position. Marked "SARGENT & CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. BERNARDS PAT. NAR 17 1914, APR 5 1915" around the pivot pins. These are used, but in good condition, with good joints jaws and pins. Some minor wear is noted on jaws, but the cutters are in great shape (about 5/16 wide cutters). The jaws close firmly together, but touch on the outside end leaving about 1/64" opening on the inside jaw, (not 100% parellel). There is some pitting noted on the outside of the jaw, but wouldn't effect the use of the tool. I believe this is the way they were made. I've never seen this style pliers before, but plenty of thought went into the design of them.
