View Larger Image   Stanley No. 77 Mortise Gauge   Description: This is a quality made mortise, marking gauge that is marked "STANLEY MADE IN U.S.A. NO. 77" and also has the sweetheart logo. It is 7.5" long, has a total of 3 scibe point, one is adjustable via the end brass thumb screw. The main shaft is graduated by 16ths inch, from 0-3". It made of rosewood, with brass trim. It is complete with the brass pad under the slide thumb screw to protect the rosewood from damage when the screw is tightened. This gauge is nice, clean, no cracks, some small dings, and little wear on the slide. I note that it appears this gauge was modified at the end near the scribe point, rounded off some, most likely to fit a particular appliction, doesn't effect the use of the tool, the pins in that area are still tight and strong. This one has a darker finish on it than most I've seen, it's a very dark rosewood.
