Lamson & Sessions 4 inch Bicycle Wrench

Description:
This is a very rare, clean, straight adjustable wrench marked, "L" inside of a shield logo, that I believe to be a Lamson & Sessions mark. on the adjustable upper jaw. It is questionable, but I have compared it to the Billings & Spencer 1896 patented bicycle wrench, and it is the same shape and size, although this one has a Japanned (black) finish on it, about 95% intact. Truth is several patented wrenches were made by other maker's foundries under permission from the patent holder in the early 1900's. This one is 4" long, it is straight, has a straight handle, the jaws align nicely, and the adjustment is in good working order. There is very minor wear noted. The jaw edges show very minor wear. A very collectible small adjustable wrench, the first I've seen by this early 1900's tool maker!
