Among the toughest lights in the Crouse Hinds line. In the event of nuclear war, these guys would survive to scatter the cock-roaches! The glass is almost 1/2\" thick and the balance of the light is cast-iron and heavy brass! 10 plus pounds!
This was originally intended to be placed in tanks or kettles where food is processed. While Crouse Hinds has had these lights in continuous production for approximately 75 years, these are of more recent vintage and never used until now. I was the first person to wire them utilizing 150 degree centigrade wire as required for safety. These lights retailed for over $1,500,00 each! I added the Crouse Hinds wall mount along with the brass nipple to convert them to sconce lights.
This light would be perfect for next to or over your mirror in a bathroom. I\'ve also had customers use them outside and in hallways. Re-lamping is easily accomplished by removal of the two brass thumb-screws which fasten the body to the mounting ring.
The diameter of the globe is 4 1/2\". From the wall to the center of the light is 4 1/2\". From the bottom of the globe to the top of the light, excluding the cast-iron wall mount is 9\". The light weighs a hefty 10 1/2 pounds. The cast-iron wall mount is 4\" diameter. I added two holes to the cast-iron wall mount to accomadate mounting to a standard round or octagonal wall box.
Along with wires, a good solid ground has been provided for safety. Put a smile on your electricians face and pass your inspections!
