1868 signed Handwritten Letter Kingston NY George & Fenton C.F. Brill Sheriff
Approximately 8\" by 4.5\"
Original handwritten letter dated November 10, 1868, written from Kingston, New York, addressed to Messrs. George & Fenton.
Item Details:
The front of the letter (Image 1) bears the dateline Kingston Nov. 10th 1868 and opens addressing the firm of George & Fenton. The writer acknowledges receipt of their correspondence (\"Yours of 4th recd.\") and notes having made a levy, with a party named Titus promising to pay. A notation in the upper left corner references \"Compy agt Titus\" — suggesting this is correspondence related to a legal or financial collection matter against an individual named Titus.
The reverse (Image 2) is docketed in brown ink at the upper right: C. F. Brill / Nov. 10, 1868 — indicating the writer or filing party. The verso also contains penciled notations, likely accounting figures or case notes, partially legible.
Condition: Good for age. Toning consistent with 157+ years of age. Fold lines present. Minor foxing. Writing on both sides remains legible.
Provenance: From a private collection of 19th-century American manuscript material.
A wonderful piece of Reconstruction Era commercial or legal correspondence from the Hudson Valley region of New York.
