Excellent occupational image showing a group of coal miners posed at the entrance to a drift mine, with mine rails/tracks extending from the opening and mining equipment visible around the entrance.
The orange mount is printed “American Scenery” along the left side and “Shamokin Penn. and Vicinity” along the right.
A particularly appealing piece of Pennsylvania anthracite coal-region history, with strong crossover interest for collectors of mining, occupational photography, Shamokin and Northumberland County history, industrial history and antique stereoviews.
Condition: Original antique condition with age toning, edge and corner wear, scattered surface wear and light staining/soiling. There is an old small inventory sticker numbered “246” on the upper right photograph. Reverse is blank with age toning and scattered staining. The miners and mine entrance remain quite clear and detailed. Please see photographs for exact condition.
