Up for sale is a wonderful, genuine late 19th-century Victorian trade card featuring a local store overprint for Sam Stern Clothing, Gents Furnishings, Hats, Caps, on Pulaski St., Lincoln, Illinois. This card features a classic Gilded Age comic stock illustration of a robust, dapper gentleman in a bowler hat, patterned trousers, and a monocle. A young boy looks on as the man rests his foot on a block. The political satirical caption reads: "Say, boss, isn't this a Government contract?"
