Marshal Louis-Gabriel Suchet and Napoleon enjoyed a highly respectful professional relationship. Suchet was one of Napoleon's most brilliant and loyal generals, distinguishing himself in Spain and being considered by the Emperor himself as a future Grand Marshal before he achieved that rank. Unlike others, Suchet maintained Napoleon's high esteem, serving with distinction until the Hundred Days and receiving the title of Duke of Albufera.
