Antique 1893 second edition of The Gospel: An Exposition of Its First Principles by Elder B. H. Roberts, an important early LDS historian, theologian, and leader.
This is the “Revised and Enlarged Edition,” published by George Q. Cannon & Sons Co. in Salt Lake City, Utah. The original edition appeared in 1888; this 1893 second edition added the supplement “Man’s Relationship to Deity.”
The book retains its attractive original green cloth binding with ornate blind-stamped decoration and gold lettering. The “Roberts” signature on the front cover is part of the publisher’s gold-stamped design and is not a handwritten autograph.
Condition:
Good antique condition for a book more than 130 years old. The covers show rubbing, surface marks, and discoloration. There is visible wear and fraying at the spine ends and corners. Interior pages display age-related toning and occasional spotting. Partially exposed spine seen in photos. Please examine all photographs carefully for the most accurate representation of condition.
