Dates & Recording: Executed June 12, 1901; officially filed and recorded on June 13, 1901, by Geo. A. Hay, Register of Deeds, Cass County (Book 27 of Mortgages, Page 117). Parties Involved: Releasor / Mortgagee: D. M. Johnson (Darwin M. Johnson, signed in fountain pen). Witness & Notary: Jno. A. Davies, Notary Public at Weeping Water (commission expiring March 25, 1904).
Property Described: Lots Five (5) and Five and One-Half (5½) in Block Sixty-Six (66), in the City of Weeping Water, Cass County, Nebraska (releasing mortgage originally recorded in Book 22 of Mortgages, Page 185). Philatelic Revenue Value: Affixed on the reverse docket fold with an intact block of five (5) 2¢ Carmine Battleship Documentary Revenue Stamps (Series 1898, Scott #R164, issued under the War Revenue Act of 1898 for the Spanish-American War), pen-cancelled across the faces. Embossed Seal: Crisp, raised circular Notary Public embossed seal to the left of the stamp block. Dimensions: Standard legal folio sheet measuring approximately 8.5" × 14" unfolded.
Condition Notes Clean and structurally sound on supple vintage ledger paper with original horizontal folds. Raised notary impression is crisp and well-defined. All five 2¢ Battleship stamps are sound, intact, and firmly adhered. Ink handwriting, signatures, and county recording stamps remain dark and clear with only minor, uniform age toning.
