From a time long ago.....
Autocar was founded in 1897 as the Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Company, then relocated and became "The Autocar Company" based in Ardmore, Pennsylvania starting around 1900. This exact "MFRS. ARDMORE, PA" wording places it in that early Ardmore-era production, roughly 1900–1910s, before the company moved its main works to Allentown, PA around 1910.
Autocar is historically significant — it's one of the oldest continuously operating vehicle manufacturers in the U.S. (still making trucks today under Volvo Group), and its earliest cars/trucks are genuinely scarce, so collectors of automobilia value original builder's plates from this period highly.
