1911 New Year Greetings Embossed Pierrot Pierrette Clown Swing Antique Postcard For Sale

Antique Postcard – 1911 New Year Greetings
Embossed New Year greeting dated for 1911, framed in a ribbed gold embossed border. A boy in a white Pierrot clown suit with red pompom buttons and a pointed cap topped with red pompoms stands on a wooden swing holding one rope, while a red-haired girl in a white ruffled ballerina-style costume with long black gloves and a white bonnet throws her arms around him. Behind them a large white disc marked \"1911\" in red hangs from a green ribbon, and below the swing the old year falls away as a broken white plaque marked \"1910\" tumbles down with a bouquet of pink and yellow roses. \"New Year Greetings!\" runs across the lower left in multicolored ornamental lettering. Divided back with an ornate \"Post Card\" heading, \"This Space for Writing Messages\" and \"For Address Only,\" and a stamp box reading Place Stamp Here, Domestic One Cent, Foreign Two Cents. Unused and unposted, with no writing. A great piece for collectors of antique New Year greeting postcards, Pierrot and clown imagery, or embossed early 1900s holiday cards.
