Original January 2, 1915 handwritten letter on an attractive illustrated advertising LETTERHEAD for South Bend Watches, manufactured by the South Bend Watch Co., South Bend, Indiana, and sold by H. R. Richter of fredericksburg tx.
Measures approximately 8.5 x 11 inches.
The elaborate printed heading advertises H. R. Richter, dealer in jewelry, watches, clocks, spectacles, silverware, musical instruments and musical merchandise. At upper left is a particularly nice detailed factory illustration showing the sprawling South Bend Watch Company manufacturing complex, complete with buildings, smokestacks and street activity.
The handwritten letter is dated Jan. 2, 1915 and addressed to “My dear Uncle Conrad.” The writer, apparently signing Charlie, discusses money/interest, apologizes for being late because it “slipped my memory,” mentions coming to Fredericksburg in a new Ford, and describes having taken a large number of photographs. He closes with New Year wishes.
