Original vintage issue of The Cathay — Magazine and Shoppers' Guide, published by Cathay Hotels Ltd., Shanghai, dated April 16, 1935. Cover soiled, else very good condition. A fascinating piece of pre-war Shanghai history, these were issued as guides for the guests of Cathay and Metropole Hotels and Cathay Mansions. The illustrated cover features the iconic Cathay Hotel building and period automobiles, with distinctive 1930s typography and graphic design—similar striking design of the partner Metropole Hotel on the rear cover.
